Mr and Mrs Cake have twins and Pinkie enjoys playing with them and having a good time. But when she's left in charge of babysitting them while the Cakes are on a catering job, she must learn when is the time to play and when to be responsible.
Events
The mane six are in a maternity ward, looking in on the newborns as Carrot Cake introduces them to the baby Pegasus Pound Cake and unicorn Pumpkin Cake. Pinkie immediately starts getting excited about all the fun she's going to have with the two babies.
One month later, Pinkie Pie has become a regular playmate of the two, playing peekaboo and such. She waits impatiently as Carrot Cake feeds them and then burps them, waiting until she can play again. But she balks at the idea of changing their diapers, instead leaving Carrot Cake to change them. After he changes them, he and Cup Cake realise they have a catering order to fill today, so they desperately need a foalsitter. Even though they ask around town, nopony seems able to take care of them, so the Cakes reluctantly ask Pinkie Pie to watch the twins, which she gladly accepts. She thinks this will be an easy task, just play with them and keep them entertained while their parents are out. But as soon as the Cakes leave, the two start bawling. Pinkie tries all she can to cheer them up, from stand-up comedy to singing. But the only thing able to keep them happy is when a bag of flour falls on Pinkie, coating her in the powder. Later, she smells that they need a diaper change and she hesitantly tries to catch them to change them. Just as they escape and run off, Twilight Sparkle arrives, offering her help with babysitting, saying she understands that some ponies just arent cut out for responsibility like this. Offended, Pinkie pushes Twilight out of the house, claiming she can handle the situation on her own. She tries giving them a snack, which they both refuse, instead spilling the food everywhere, prompting bathtime. After the two foals give Pinkie trouble in the bathtub, she decides to put them in their room, where their mischief at least can be contained. She finally gets fed up and puts them to bed, telling them to get some rest. But as soon as she turns around, they escape the crib, vanishing. Pinkie runs through the house trying to find them. She puts Pumpkin in the crib before having to try and get Pound off the ceiling where he is flying. But as she attempts to catch him, Pumpkin's magic starts working and she starts levitating toys to her crib to put in her mouth. As Pinkie takes them away, Pumpkin uses magic to levitate herself and starts flying around the room with Pound, evading capture. Pinkie tries catching them in a laundry basket, but Pumpkin makes a hole with her magic and Pound just pushes the basket off the ground. Reaching her breaking point, Pinkie just sits and starts crying, knowing she had focused too much on playtime and had overestimated her abilities. The two foals stop and try and cheer her up, understanding the stress they have been putting her through. They cooperate and take a nap as Pinkie cleans the house, dictating her letter to the Princess as she goes. As soon as she finishes, the Cakes return, fearing the worst. Pleasantly surprised, they ask if she's free to watch them again, which she agrees to.

Character Development
This was all about Pinkie. She started off as the simple, random, carefree spirit we all know and love, shirking responsibility where she can, especially if there's no fun to be had in it. But as she deals with the foals more, she comes to realise sometimes it's necessary to put the fun to the side and act responsible to get the job done.
Canon
It shows another side of Pinkie, a more serious side that comes out when she needs it. Pinkie Responsible Pie could become a very key component in her personality mix. The foals, I don't know as much. If they are kept in canon, I get the feeling they won't have much impact on the storylines, save from being a scapegoat for Pinkie to explain away any episode she isn't in.
It shows that foals have a full understanding of wings or magic from an age as early as one month, meaning that all foals around that age should have the same capabilities, meaning Scootaloo can fly and Sweetie Belle can use magic already. Either that or the Cake twins are prodigies.
- Oh and the three types of pony mate with each other and apparently pegasus and unicorn genes are recessive, which also means that it's very likely for an alicorn to be born.
completely pointless song in context. It was a last ditch effort to make them laugh, which didn't work. Out of context, it's a standard Pinkie song, not having much to do with anything, and the tempo steadily increasing. However, I think this was her worst song. Whereas her other songs served some purpose, whether it be to help pass the time and teach a filly how to make cupcakes or to help a friend overcome a fear, "Oink Oink Oink" had absolutely no point and did nothing for the plot. But it's still a fun song to sing.
